AFP Printer Driver

This is a printer driver for generation, formatting and printing of documents.

Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) defines a document presentation architecture. The same standard also defines a family of associated printer software and compatible hardware. You would be able to thus create documents and information presentation that are independent of applications and devices. Using this format presentation scheme one could control formatting, the form of paper output, whether a document is to be printed or viewed online, etc. This presentation lets you manage document storage and access in a distributed network. This network may have different OS platforms. Primary use of the AFP is in enterprises to manage large scale printing through different printers; production variable data printing. One could designate backup printers when one fails. AFP is a mainstay of electronic document management (EDM) applications. Print-and-view, archive and retrieval, and Enterprise Report Management (ERM) are issues that could be helped with this format.

After you print your document to the AFP Printer, you will be prompted by a Save As dialog. The name and location of the AFP file to be generated can be specified. It is possible to bypass this interactive mode and use the tool in server mode. Document, page segment, medium overlay, and overlays from any Windows application can be created with this driver. Choosing a folder on the server for storing all client users` AFP documents, page segments and overlays can be easily managed. This driver could help launch some other program that needs to process anything more. Conversion to PDF, load and save, choosing paper type, etc. are additional features available. This is a very good tool.

AFP Printer Driver for Windows installs a virtual printer that allows users to create AFP overlays, documents, page segments, and medium overlays from any Windows application that supports printing. After you print your document to the AFP Printer, you will be prompted by a Save As dialog to specify the name and location of the AFP file to be generated. If you wish to bypass the dialog, you can simply make the AFP Printer work in the server mode.
