Pros: doTask! is a time management software. It’s suited quite well for small groups/small businesses. There are three major ways one controls task assignment and management of productivity. You can provide information about the programs that can be operated. Each employee then can decide for himself the task to be taken up. It can be any of the ones made available. The tasks associated folders are organized in a tree like structure. The grouping into a folder can be based on an employee, task state etc. Task state is indicated graphically so that a quick glance tells you whether in progress, completed, expired or deleted.

Regular programs available on machines can be controlled so that users are not tempted to waste time. When a program is set as forbidden, the program will get suspended immediately and the user would be shown a reason. Games and instant messengers may be tagged as forbidden for example. Undesirable programs get suspended after a few minutes. It is the neutral programs that can be used by employees as needed. All activities are monitored so that one can find a report of complete usage of the programs, on a machine by the employee assigned to it. Employees themselves also get to see the statistics.

Cons: The installation screens still have instructions that are not translated. One can get by, as these are so familiar to most users. But is an irritant all the same. Fortunately the main interface is in English. Anticipate problems as this is the classic version 1.0. It’s also debatable if such a controlled environment is really required for an office.
