Digital image analysis and image mining. Analyze image content: automatically capture objects, find their locations and measurements, save the data to Excel. Extract or remove objects as desired.

Pros: Very first stage is that of analysis. This feature analyses an image and based on the spectral characteristics creates regions that can be classified and pull out the data in a spreadsheet. One can do extraction of objects in an image based on such color and other properties. With a single click you can capture the contours of all objects in the image and produce a spreadsheet with each objects locations and measurements. One can select area characteristics on the spreadsheet and highlight/remove the area from the image.

All the theoretical digital image analysis and processing are available and can be applied to input images. The tools available evolved out of work done for remote sensing of images and are now applied here for common images. One could of course do the analysis for remotely acquired images.

In current format this could be a very good demonstration vehicle for the image processing techniques available. This should be an excellent tool for teaching students the effects of the kinds of filters, noise, pre-processing and other steps necessary for analyzing and enhancing images. The software also includes all standard image processing tools.

Cons: The purpose of the application, the positioning is not at all clear. Is it good for the plain vanilla image processing that is done routinely, everyday! Or is it aimed for specific kind of processing on special kind of images?
