Soft Docket 2006 is a docketing and billing application designed for small law offices that is both feature rich and intuitive to use.
This is far more than a simple billing and client tracking program, as it also contains a component to track the calendars of attorneys and staff members and contacts. The new version has added a document management module allowing users to associate crucial documents with client matters.
Soft Docket has empasized sophisticated reporting capabilities with this new release, something sorely lacking in most applications in this category. It allows users creating a host of billing and income reports to export to PDF, JPEG, RTF and .HTML. It has also added a Task Management feature where administrators can track which of their staff are responsible for specific tasks. Users can customize their interface and Soft Docket will remember their individual settlings.
Despite all these features SofDocket falls short by failing to integrate with court rules - a critical function for dockeing for law offices in the U.S. It also does not appear to be able to import or link its contact management function with MS Outlook. According to the company, Soft Docket cannot convert PC Law files, a consideration for those who are thinking about migrating their billing data.
