Features: HomeGed is a document management software. It allows you to store, organize and view paper and digital documents of all formats. With the help of an attached scanner HomeGed will let you scan in your paper documents. The scanned documents are converted into PDF format. You then attach a set of tags so that a document can be found easily. Documents can be viewed easily. HomeGed version is available in several versions. HomeGed family and HomeGed Pro are single versions. HomeGed Enterprise is a client/server version that can work over a corporate network. The programs are available for Windows 2000/XP/ Vista, Mac OS X and Linux.

In the volumetric mode the application can process a large number of documents in a short time. For example 100,000 documents, an average size of 87 KB each, can be classified in about 16 hours. In the speed mode and with up to five clients it can classify 25, 700 documents of average size of 780 KB each in about 45 minutes. That is about 10 documents per second. That is quite a fast processing speed. Interface has setting consult, search, store and settings. Consult mode is for reviewing documents. Document search lets you search for a specific document. You can set several search criteria. Store mode provides storage of documents into specific repository. Settings lets you control profile, folders, repositories, users and software management.

Overall: Good set of features that are easy to use. However the content of the documents are not searchable. It is only the documents that are classified with tags that can be searched out/found. If you are looking for specific content you will have to check through the likely document.
