EMS SQL Manager for InterBase/Firebird Freeware is a tool for InterBase and Firebird database administration and development. SQL Manager is compatible with all versions, including the latest of InterBase and Firebird database management systems; Interbase 2009 and Firebird 2.1. Development support and administration help is thus available for such recent features as DB triggers, journaling, incremental backups, and others. Along with a well designed GUI, wizards help perform services in the background for Interbase as well as Firebird. Tools for building sophisticated queries help in development as well as administration of the two databases. Visual as well as text tools available make it so. Administration features cover effective security measures too. The integrated editor supports Unicode thus there is no problem in handling any languages at all, including the multi byte ones. The Unicode support is also useful while importing and exporting data to and from the databases.

The interface is a floating windows style one. A database explorer lets you poke around the databases. Customizable toolbars for the program windows, customizable program interfaces that are also localizable help with the ease of use. The richness of features creates a different problem. It would take a bit of learning time to familiarize with all of the facilities available. Visual database designer helps designing databases in either environment. The designer lets you create, edit, and drop tables & table fields and connect tables visually. Helps with reverse engineering too. Same goes with the report designer that is wizard based. If you work with any of these databases, this is a very good tool to try. The freeware makes sure it is for you. NB: You can create and use only 5 databases.
