This is a database of thermal properties of materials compiled by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics.

This database compilation is a collection of information on materials properties and provides a strong platform for thermophysical and physicochemical properties needed in process modeling. Data about a range of materials such as aluminum, copper and ferrous alloys are made available. The details include information concerning fraction solid, density and thermal conductivity change in the mushy zone that intrinsically occur during solidification. Such properties include the fraction solid transformed, enthalpy release, thermal conductivity and density, all as a function of temperature. The thermophysical and physical properties of the liquid and solid phases are critical components in casting simulations, for example. The institute of Engineering thermo physics has compiled the data in collaboration with National Academy of Sciences and SGTE (Scientific Group Thermodata Europe). Accurate input data are critical for successful computer simulation of casting processes. As increasingly more complex solidification events need to be modelled and microstructures and mechanical properties need to be predicted, reliable thermophysical property data are important.

Looking up the data through the reasonably well defined interface is fairly simple for people who know their way around this complex topic. Most selections are through clicking of radio buttons. Retrieved data and corresponding graphs and charts are displayed in a prominent area of the interface. This tool is not for a beginner in any way. You ought to know how the data are related to appropriately make the choices. Actually making the choices are not difficult at all on the interface though.
