Farsight Calculator is a easy-to-use programmable calculator which allows you to save your calculating process as a program or function and perform arithmetic operations in either RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) or ALG (Algebraic) mode.
Pros: Farsight Calculator is a programmatic implementation of a programmable calculator. Calculation process is saved as a program or a function so that repeated calculations of similar type could be done easily by entering only the required parameters rather than going through the complete calculation process. The interface implemented resembles a programmable calculator with a page on the side that prints the input values and the results. Regular arithmetic operations can be carried out in either RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) or ALG (Algebraic) modes. The calculator program implements a range of functions, more than a hundred that includes algebraic, trigonometric, hyperbolic, date, statistical, and financial functions. In addition Farsight Calculator contains a set of powerful tools such as "Finance box", "date calculations", "Unit converter" etc. These come up as pop screens with specific parameter inputs that are required. Any function that needs parameters prompts for the same through corresponding pop up screens too. Date calculation helps determine information about date. For example one could easily determine a date 45 days from today. Expression evaluation is a powerful tool available that can evaluate complex expressions. Financial functions include loan repayment calculations, depreciation, cash flow and interest rate conversion calculations, over 100 odd unit conversions are possible and just to add some element of fun change skins to suit your mood.
Cons: Along with the reverse Polish notation, calculations in hexadecimal and octal base would really have been useful for programmers. Then the usual caution about version 1.0 applies too.
Overall: Nice application full of features, easy to use and learn; this package is good for at least a 4 star rating.
