Checkbook is a good program with a couple of bugs that can make it very irritating to use. 1: There is a math addition error. The developers are aware of it but choose not to release a fix at this time. It has been an issue for years. If you change the date that a transaction occured Chechbook gets confused. I think what it`s doing is it does not remove the amount of the old transaction while it does do the math on the new transaction. What you end up with is Checkbook doing the math on both transactions although only one of them shows up in the register. The only way to correct Checkbook`s error is to edit another transaction that occured before the date of your original transaction. It sound complicated but Checkbook will screw this up in a heartbeat and if you don`t know what`s happening you could easily overdraw your account. 2: Checkbook has significant difficulty opening it`s database if you`ve moved the database. Like if you need to recompile the Checkbook database from a backup. I recently bought a new computer and temporarily put the Checkbook files onto a Iomega 500 gig USB hard drive. When I tried to move the files back onto the new computer (using the restore function) Checkbook refuses to save the files on the new C: drive and will only load the files from the Iomega hard drive now. This is partly because Checkbook only has a "SAVE" function for it`s database and not a "SAVE AS" like every other program in the world.
