Great product to draw gantt charts. I managed using dates in the past by modifying the earliest date (Tools-Options-Other Settings).

Good for planning projects in the future - however I wanted to show a gant chart for dates in the past, and it wouldn`t display the dates I entered.

This is a really nice piece of software - does professional looking charts, very easy to use, and (unlike MS Project) doesn`t try to "help" by changing everything around seemingly at random :-) I guess if you want the full set of project management tools you should get Project - but if what you want to do is draw Gantt charts quickly and easily, this is the business.
