This software tool lets you view MS Project files on a Mac.
MOOS Project Viewer is a Microsoft Project viewer that can open any MS Project file. The project files may be in any of the formats that include MPP, MPTT, MPX or XML. MS Project versions starting from 2000 are supported. 2000, 2003, 2007 and the recent 2010 versions can be handled by the tool easily. Work breakdown structures, GANTT charts, resource allocations, task sheet or resource usage are the views you can choose from in the viewer. When you are part of a project team but not of the project planning and your job is to follow the plan rigorously, then this is a tool that can be very helpful at a negligible price, at about 5% of the MS Project.
The program is capable of operating on Java enabled platforms that include the Windows, Mac OS X as well as Linux. This tool gives you the capability to follow the project plans that evolve dynamically through the life cycle of a project. Printed plans and charts would not make that possible that easily. The viewing is quite flexible and includes features like critical paths, deadlines, baselines etc. in Gantt charts. These views could be shown/ hidden; columns can be arranged and resized to your convenience. Task filters will be able to provide an uncluttered view of the significant issues. The interface is somewhat less complicated than the MS Project product. This product is certainly not for amateurs. A very handy and useful tool in a project setting!
