Project Reader is a software application that lets you open, print and export Microsoft Project MPP/MPT files, Microsoft Project XML files or Microsoft Project Database format (Access, SQL Server, Oracle) without requiring MS Project.

Pros: In a project team there are several members, collaborators and suppliers who do not need access to a full-fledged MS Project to participate in the project activities. For many of these members it is enough that they are able to view the project plans. It is able to open the projects saved on MPP file format, MPT file format, XML file format, MPD/MDB file format (Access), DBMS SQLServer and DBMS Oracle. Not only you can open these files for viewing, you are able to print the files and export them to MS Project. You are able to view the Gantt diagram, resource sheet, task usage and resources usage.

The project reader is capable of handling data from MS Project data in MPP format from the 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 versions. XML 2002, 2003, 2007 or one of the database formats maintained by MS Project MPD/MDB of 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003 as well as SQLServer or Oracle. You need not choose the language at the download or the installation time, it supports multi-language changing at run time. Available languages are English, Italian, French, German, Spanish. This application is able to accept commands to print directly from the command line using this method it is possible to schedule print queues to execute at any time.

Cons: The application is for specialists, the members of a project team who understand the implications of the diagrams.
