actiTIME is a time-tracking software for management and billing. This web based timesheet provides intuitive interfaces for collecting time expenses, reporting and invoicing.

Pros: Defining of customers, projects related to each customer and then tasks related to each project is fairly easy through the easy to use interfaces. Functions that are logically related are under clearly defined tabs.

Distributed work is easy being a web-based application. User privileges could be defined by admin users or the managers. The package keeps track of billable as well as non-billable hours. Besides if other categories are needed for a particular enterprise that could be defined too.

Time expenses reports are flexible too and can be generated in several different ways based on the project requirements of a particular organization. These reports show up an individual’s performance too in terms of undertime and overtime spent by an individual in a given project.

Cons: Billing rates, that could be different for different employees are not considered. Even at the invoice data stage it is only the time spent data that is available. For completeness sake, one should be able to print out a complete invoice in terms of dollars and cents should be possible. Instead the makers of the software have decided to provide either CSV data to Quickbook format/HTML time data. More types of compatible interfaces would have enhanced the value of the software.

Overall: For the role defined for the package, that of managing time spent of tasks related to projects of specific customers is met very well. However if the complete cycle of activity down to invoice generation and then tacking of paid and overdue invoices are to be take into account, the package does not help.

Overall then, for the stated purpose it is of 4 star grade.
