When the video gaming industry was still in its early days, it saw the rise of Contra - a ground-breaking, action based game which would eventually make its mark as one of the most outstanding game ever made. Decades have gone by, still the charm of the game remains more or less the same. And due to this, a number of versions of the classic NES game have been developed for various gaming platforms. Contra - Hard Corps v.1.0 is one such game based upon the classic SEGA game which has been remade for playing on PC.

Contra - Hard Corps v.1.0 by GamesFabrique is a freeware remake of the Hard Corps version of Contra originally released back in the early 90s. The game has a side view interface and nice animation effects of all the shots and blasts and action oriented graphics. Before starting the game, you have to choose one of the characters from the Hard Corps team consisting of four characters: Ray Poward, Sheena Etranzi, Brad Fang and Browny; each of them being equipped with certain unique characteristics and attacks. All the characters have bombs, machine guns and the ability to pick four possible weapons which get lost once you loose a chance. No doubt, Hard Corps v1.0 is a fast paced game and a variety of enemies ranging from robots and evil beings and a big boss at the end of every level. The game is dynamic with a number of pathways to proceed, different story modes and goals for the player to choose from which makes the gameplay a bit non-linear.

Contra - Hard Corps v.1.0 is overall, a frantically paced, action based game which ensures that once you jump into a level, you have no stopping till you reach the end. Hence, it receives a score of three rating points out of five.
