A full-featured multi-resource calendar application designed specifically for planning, managing, and scheduling important dates and times. Such that it can serve as your personal secretary.
Pros: eReminder is a calendar application that enables you to save appointments, tasks, events, contacts, notes and more. It enables you to view events, appointments, etc. in several different views such as daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Additionally, there is also a grid view. One of its best features is that you can view schedules with different contexts parallel (example: your office schedule, personal schedule, doctor or dentist appointments). It has the ability to share data with MS Outlook, MS Project / MS Project Server, and Intuit QuickBooks. Reminders for important events such as meetings, appointments, birthdays, anniversaries etc. are displayed automatically, and there is also the option of having these reminders emailed to you (reminders for recurring events are sent automatically). For meetings etc. eReminder can also send a reminder email to all other related parties. The calendar can be shared with access rights such that some information is public and the rest is private. It has a very secure interface that requires authentication and uses encryption and is therefore more secure than other similar software.
Cons: But for the interface it could have easily been one of the best tools around. The fact is that since there are several such tools available, the interface and its ease of use matters. In this case, the biggest negative factor is the sultry secretary that is part of the package. She is the one who reminds you of appointments etc. But the secretary is irritating to say the least (there is probably some way to turn this off, but it couldn’t be found during testing). As such most people can read right off the calendar and don’t need this attempt at something more. It is not so easy to replace a real life secretary, who is a human being capable of performing many more tasks (including advanced jobs such as creating presentations etc.). Other than that the software is also over-priced, when the cost to benefit ratio is considered.
Overall: 4 stars. It is a fairly good tool, but has a significant defect in the interface (a secretary animation). Besides it is also over-priced.
