Whiznote is a note organizer software with advanced hyperlinking features, it also works as a full-fledged text editor.
Pros: AvniTech WhizNote is a note taking and note organizing software, that also works as a full-fledged text editor. One of the best features is that individual notes do not need to be saved as separate files but are saved within WhizNotes interface as separate notes. Similarly, you can have groups of related notes stored as separate WhizNote (.wzn) files. One only needs to open WhizNote and all the notes are readily available. The text editor automatically learns new text file types that a user has opened so that the next time a user tries to open a file the menu will show those files as well. It has a “Restore Desktop on Startup” option which basically captures the state of all open windows (including cursor positions) and on a restart brings back the Desktop as you had left it. This is particularly useful when you need to restart a computer after installing an update. For related notes it is also possible to link them through hyper-linking which makes it a truly unique experience.
Cons: For a tool that aims to be a text editor, it does not do enough. Most text editors today have advanced capabilities such as automatically coloring C++, JAVA files etc. (the only thing WhizNote supports is HTML) which make them more than just text editors and the choice for programmers and average users alike. Apart from that, the fact that there is not too much customization possible is a negative. Secondly, as compared to certain other note taking software one has to open the application each time to see the notes. There is also no feature that enables one to take notes by time. The only way is to actually type the date into the note.
Overall: 4 stars. A really attractive note taking solution, which also has a pretty decent text editor. The only drawback is that it has a fairly simplistic interface for a text editor.
