Video to Flash Console is a command line tool for converting digital videos to SWF or FLV in a batch script or command line console mode. Conversion is possible from AVI to SWF, AVI to FLV video files.
Pros: This application is a command line tool. This can convert AVI files to web video formats of SWF or FLV. Video and audio quality parameters can be specified in the command line for conversion. One specifies a input file, name of the output file and whether FLV or SWF video is required. You could specify and add a logo to the resulting video.
Other parameters that can be specified are the frame rate, size, duration and so on. A series of conversions can be carried out through specifying a batch file that invokes the conversion command for a set of input and output files.
Cons: The command line syntax could get quite complex, particularly when specifying all the quality and size parameters etc. and thus could be error prone. The error messages given out by the application, when conversion fails, also are very cryptic and does not help much in debugging of the command script. This alone can make usage of this application quite difficult. Video quality produced in the SWF file from a sample file actually deteriorated somewhat.
Overall the application serves a useful purpose but is difficult to use, particularly due to a long command line that will be required. Error prompts are not very helpful in debugging of the command line anyway. Overall thus it is difficult to rate this application at more than 3 stars.
