This is a 3D graphics editor for molecular modeling. The editor provides the features that you need to make a molecule come alive in color and a 3D model.
Falco Molecule is a 3D modeler aimed at creating molecular models for visual representation. The 3D graphics editor is OpenGL compatible and is able to create accurate and detailed models. Creation of atoms, selecting, rotating, scaling and moving them around to create the molecular model is available. The viewing by camera rotation is very flexible. Object manipulation features let you create those 3D effects such a few atoms joined together. The chemical elements table or the periodic table is intimately connected with the program. You can select the elements required for modeling of the chemical molecule you are creating. The workspace area gives you four views of the molecule getting created. The main operational menus give you the following choices. The atom menu has create, selections, moving etc. choices. View menu provides options as to rotation of object, zoom, background select etc. The third menu under "other" provides copy to clipboard, toolbar, status bar on/off switches etc.
The tool bar has the model manipulation tools necessary. Overall this is a very good tool to create3D models for teaching/learning of chemical molecules. It has the right tools and does not take much learning to start using it. It should be easy for a teacher to get the hang of it quickly and help students visualize the 3D character of different molecules. it is compatible with Windows versions including the latest - Windows 7.
