Sound Editor Pro lets you make and edit music, voice and other audio recordings. When editing audio files you can cut, copy and paste parts of recordings and, if required, add effects like echo, amplification and noise reduction.
Pros: Sound Editor Pro lets you record music but its real powers come out in its editing features. Whether its music, voice or other audio recordings, cut-cop-paste kind of editing is available for users to create a polished recording. Audio files are presented as spectrum graphs and thus you can easily pick out portions on which to operate. Delete, insert, auto-trim, silence etc are additional effects you could use as edit tools. There’s a set of effects that one can add to the recordings. These include amplify, normalize, equalizer, envelope, reverb, echo, reverse, sample rate conversion, fade in/out, compressor, envelope, chorus, flanger, phaser, speed change, pitch change etc. Noise reduction has some parameters that can be set. It also has couple of preset noise reduction methods that are specific to cassette noise reduction and breathing noise reduction. There’s a set of filters that are available too. Sound Editor Pro works as a wav editor or mp3 editor. However a set of other formats are also supported such as VOX,GSM, AIF, OGG, WMV and so on. The application is able to handle up to 32000 files in the batch mode while applying effects and for format conversions.
Timed recordings and voice activated recordings are supported. CD ripper has a very fast rip mode and can handle on-line CDDB look ups. Bookmarks and regions are also supported, regions can be saved as separate files. Spectral analysis and speech synthesis features are also included in the feature list.
Cons: No particular problem noticed. But needs some knowledge of what the effects are like and what they can do to the quality of the recording and get professional results.
Overall this has extensive edit features. It is easy to use and easy to learn too.
