Total Recorder Editor can record any sound passing through any line of your sound card. For example, you can record sound being played back by an external program, sound from a microphone, an external LP, cassette, CD/DVD player, AM/FM.
Pros: Total Recorder Editor is able to record anything that is played through the sound card of your machine. That includes say music being played on the windows media player, a line in input from the microphone, AM/FM/Satellite radio, Vinyl records/cassettes or a CD player. Other interesting sources of audio could be from a web page, internet conversation/podcasts, internet radio and anything else that plays through the sound card. The application makes editing of sound in the familiar cut and paste style as well as merging of records. Visual representation, in the form of the spectrum of the recorded music aids in implementing the visual style. Audio data waveform with Zoom Full, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Zoom Vertical helps in zeroing on the point of editing/splicing etc. Editing can be performed using a visual representation of the sound and using clipboard operations. Cut, Copy, Delete Selection, Delete Silence, Paste, Paste From File, Mix, Mix From File are the operations that can be performed on the sound recording files. A marker makes it easy to mark the parts that are to be manipulated. A built in CD ripper and the burner added in the current version provides the flexibility of creating a mp3 music library and also creating CD from your own mix of music that can be played on the car system or the home system or even the PC. It supports all major audio formats and the application lets you convert one format to another. Filters and effects add to the embellishments that are possible on the audio files. A full set of filters can be applied to any portion of the recording one wants to. These include BandPass Filter, FFT Filter, HighPass Filter, HighShelf Filter, LowPass Filter, LowShelf Filter, Notch Filte etc. Effects that can be added are Amplify, Compressor, Delay, Equalize, Fade In and Fade Out, Flanger, Invert, Normalize, Phaser, Reverb, Reverse, Silence, Shrink, Stretch, Vibrato, etc. Add and edit extra information to your audio files such as Album, Artist, Comments, Copyright, Genre, Title, Year and so on. Then finally save the audio files manipulated within the editor in the formats supported. One could save parts of a file as well.
