Pros: This application is able to reduce the total number of polygons used in rendering a particular 3D object model. The aim is to reduce these number of polygons so that rendering times can be reduced. Other part of the trade off is to still maintain the appearance quality of the model. It maintains well-balanced level of details and size, which is perfect for the use in virtual reality and real-time visualization systems. The application is able to pick up the required parameters required for the reduction process and does not require manual intervention. It supports Wavefront .OBJ, VRML2 and StereoLitho (STL) file formats. The program creates all the reductions at the same time. That makes it possible to look at the reduced versions and decide visually what suits your needs. There is no need to go through progressive reductions and decide on one. The user interface is simple and very easy to use. Calling up the 10, 20, 30 percent reduced model for visual inspection takes just a click on the right button. Turn around these models in all three axes and make a suitable visual judgment.

Another good thing about VizUp is its unique ability to maintain the visual fidelity of the model even at high compression ratios. The application does delete some vertices in trying to create a compressed model. But the other vertices do not change so that there are no changes in the geometry of the model. Texture mapping are not affected because of this strategy as the texture co-ordinates remain the same. Optimization techniques help with the model appearance and could be tried if the visual does not appeal to you.
