This software records directly to MP3.
The interface is nice and intuitive. Set options are filled in by the software but the user can make change if required. It is possible to do scheduled recording, which is a nice feature.
Recording source can be from line-in, via microphone, Quicktime, Flash, games, Winamp, WMP or even webcasts. With built in noise reduction the recording may even sound better than the original.
It can detect the formats supported by the sound card in the PC and can set parameters for best performance according to that.
The editor part lets the user do some rudimentary effects like fade in and fade out, but is mainly good at splicing together pieces of audio. Visual tools are provided for the same.
Cons: Limited formats available for recording is an issue. Recording is possible only in MP3 or WAV. The editor too is rudimentary, but then the package claims recording features more than editing ones. So that may be ok. The application also closed a few times during our testing indicating errors, so stability is a little suspect.
Overall: Overall, particularly because of the error situations, I would give it a 3 star rating. It does do a good job of recording alright.
