Pros: Cool Record Edit Deluxe is able to record audio from a whole range of sources such as cassettes, LPs, live performances, TV, DVD or internet radio. Setting the volume and the overall bit rate (sampling rate, quantization bits etc.) is all it takes. As soon as the digital recording is ready, the material is ready for preservation/ archival. Many of these sources particularly the older ones such as cassettes, LPs etc have characteristic noise patterns in them. Once digitized, these recordings provide an opportunity to remove the systematic noise and improve the audio quality to a large extent.

This application does have an editor that can take care of appropriate editing to clean up these recordings. Waveform display and graphical editing tools such as splicing, cutting, merging files etc provide a wide range of edit options. Speaking about characteristic noise and its removal this editor has click and crackle filters meant for vinyl records, hiss and other noise filters for cassettes and an overall equalizer to take care of recording characteristics of these media. A range of audio effects could be applied too. Effects include Amplify, Delay, Equalizer, Fade, Flanger, Invert, Normalize, Reverse, Multi Tap Delay, Silence, Stretch, Vibrato, Echo and Chorus. Set of filters that can be applied are Band Pass Filter, High Pass Filter, High Shelf Filter, Low Pass Filter, Low Shelf Filter and Notch Filter.
