Cool Record Edit Pro helps you transfer tapes, LPs, live performances, Internet radio, TV, DVD, or any other sound source to your hard drive. The Editor allows you to perform various operations with audio data that attempts improvement of the recording quality.
Pros: Cool Record Edit Pro helps you transfer tapes, LPs, live performances, Internet radio, TV, DVD, or any other sound source to the computer hard drive. These older collections represent lot of one’s efforts to collect and maintain them. Now that they are becoming obsolete only means to keep them playable is to turn them into digital data. Some of the newer stuff too need to be recorded to be able to keep them for long term. These include live performances, internet radio shows and so on. With this application recording takes minimal efforts. Set the sources, set the recording quality in terms of sampling and bit per sample and volume and one is set to get the material in digital form and keep them for posterity.
Once the raw capture is done, there are several things that could be done to try and improve quality or to add some effects to suit one’s listening preferences. An audio file is presented as a waveform image of the recording. Applying of filters and effects that are things one would like to do. For example a click and crackle filter can remove these pattern noises from the recordings of vinyl LPs or a filter tailored for the hiss that is part of cassette records. An equalizer can clean up recordings of any source.
Cool Record Edit Pro supports a wide range of audio formats, such as MPEG (MP3, MP2), WAV, Windows Media Audio, Ogg Vorbis, Audio Tracks and Dialogic VOX. Inter-conversion between these formats is fairly easy. Same is true of ripping a CD from one’s own collection or to create a CD from the collected digital music.
Cons: Nothing negative detected.
Overall a well designed package with a nice interface, this certainly is a 4 star item.
