This is software that is like the MS Notepad, but the difference is that it has text to speech capability.
It is a text notepad with an added feature of text to speech capability. It is able to read documents in many formats including TXT, DOC, HTML and RTF, e-mails, etc. It is also able to read texts with SAPI 4 and SAPI 5-compliant high quality voices. The editor will read out the words/sentences you are typing into the notepad. The readout speed and pitches can be varied. The text read out can be recorded into WAV or MP3 files. With the bookmarking facility this program can become a good reader for your e-books. Conversely record a audio book from the typed material, if you like. The editor could be a good tool to let you type in material without looking at the screen to verify if you entered text correctly.
The interface includes the Windows like controls in it, besides there are the controls that play the text in the synthetic voice provided with the program. The windows interface like controls include the editor controls like bold, italic, font size, color, size, etc. Additional controls include a pitch control and a drop down list of the reading voice you want to use. A progress bar shows the progress of the current material being read. The interface is intuitive enough to be useful to even first time users. It is a good text editor, very much like the MS notepad. It is useful like the same program. Only question is if you want a voice talking back to you! Many people do not like that. But, if you are used to your GPS navigator talking back to you to take a particular turn, you may actually like it! Try it out to see if you like someone talking back and a specific voice.
