You would be able to create comparatively smaller files while maintaining proper quality. You would be able to save on disk space as well. Having the video and the audio recorded synchronously is another useful feature. You can also record audio independently through the line in, microphone and any other material that plays on the sound card.

YouRecorder records in its own .yry format. However, that can easily be converted to standard AVI format. The built in play back supports playback of these recorded files with good quality. You would thus be able to record your favorite 3D and 2D games and play on players that are compatible to AVI format or if you have a suitable converter that can help.

Overall: Getting the video and audio recorded in a proprietary format is a regressive step. Support of only AVI is a disadvantage. Converting to other formats is not possible which today is a very big issue.
