The software is an application that works with several different platforms running simultaneously with wireless and wired Internet webcams, TV-cards, capture cards, power-line, and USB cameras. The interface at the local security or a remote monitoring station is exactly the same for ease of use. The processed video is in MPEG compression. The application can be managed over LAN or remotely so that the local security machine can operate without the keyboard, mouse or a screen enhancing the security of the system. There are some features built in that gives it some fault tolerance. The components work as independent applications. Thus, even when one particular module fails, others can continue running. Should the recording fail, for instance, already recorded video is played back rather than the screen going blank.

To avoid getting an ever growing file, the recording is done in a cyclic mode. Essentially you get a video clip loop of a fixed duration. The recording can only be done on an event like movement detection in the surveillance area or the recognition of a face in the same area too. It is possible to have pre- and post- alarm recording. The start of a recording could be scheduled depending on your need. When analyzing for events, all the cam recordings can be played synchronously. Search of a particular recording can be based on date, time or face detected. Encryption and password protection ensures no unauthorized access is possible.
