WavePad is a sound editor program for Windows. You can make and edit voice as well as other audio recordings. The editing is visual, simply do cut paste and similar operations very precisely to get your editing done. The edits you can do include cut, copy, paste, delete, insert, silence, auto trim and more. There is a range of effects you can add to the recordings. These include, amplify, normalize, equalizer, envelope, reverb, echo, reverse, sample rate conversion, etc. Additional special effects available are reducing vocals, distortion, chorus and more. Adding such effects and any conversions can be done automatically. The software has features that help restore older recording by automatic noise reduction as well as click and pop removal. Voice activated recording is supported by the tool as is auto trim.

The program supports more or less all the functions that you need for complete production. Start with recording, do post processing/edits and then finally burns a CD; all of these are covered. The visual waveform representation lets you set the cursors very precisely based on time information displayed. The audio player has the usual controls. The audio quality produced covers a range; sampling is from 6KHz to 9.6 KHz with the possibility of each sample being 8 bit, 16 bit, 24 bit or even 32 bit. Some additional features include a FFT analyzer and text to speech. CD manufacture can have the quality defined to be CD quality and FM quality.
