Light Downloader is a free download manager. It accelerates downloads by splitting the source file into several parts and then starting downloading of these parts at the same time. The speeds are likely to be up to 6 times faster than a direct download of the complete file. One of the biggest problems one finds with downloads is that when a file download is interrupted, you may have to start all over again. With problematic or noisy lines these restarts may become quite frustrating. Light Downloader can resume such interrupted download from the right spot to complete the job correctly. This tool is able to work with protocols like the FTP, HTTP and HTTPS. The program will work through proxies as well.
There is a built in scheduler that will let you schedule these file transfers. When scheduled, the tool will go out to the source, connect and start the transfer. On completion of the transfer it will disconnect or shut down the machine, if set to do so. The interface makes it very simple to get the job done. The log collection available is very useful, as you are able to find out exactly what happened during the transfers. A file explorer is integrated with the tool for managing the files easily. A display area tells you what files have been downloaded and the statistics about them such as the size of each file. The font used to name the controls/buttons could have been a little better. But, that may be subjective.
