An SSH X-Server for Windows, that allows a user to run Unix and Linux on a Windows Desktop.

Pros: AceaXe is an excellent tool for users who would like to be able to access Unix and Linus environments from their very own Windows desktops. It is essentially an X-Server that runs on the Windows OS and supplies a window which shows the required (Unix, Linux or Solaris) environment. This is especially useful for users who want to be able to access certain applications that run only in a Unix / Linux environment, and also for educational purposes where-in a particular application (say a 3-D CAD tool running on a UNIX server) can be accessed remotely by students using Windows PCs.

It features excellent copy and pasting functions, unlike a lot of other tools in this segment where getting copy/paste to work can require sever ingenuity on the part of the user, or fantastic recalling ability. It supports both 64-bit and 32-bit OS on either end (the Windows or the remote Server). It has support for a variety of X-based applications, desktops and window managers: KDE, CDE, FVWM, TWM, Motif, Open-Look, and GNOME. And it has in-built support for a variety of protocols for remote access: Telnet, SSH, XDM, REXEC, RSH, RLOGIN, and more. All standard XClients are also supplied: for example xkill, glxinfo, xfd, xclock, xset, etc. It also supports WinSock – the Windows Socket API. TCP/IP, NFS, FTP, TFTP, and other Networking protocols are also preprogrammed.

Cons: There are no significant disadvantages. It works. Fairly decent interface (which in any case is not used that often, only during configuration and initial connection) and not much to complain about.

Overall: Definitely 5 stars. It works well, supports a variety of protocols and will prove useful for most users because whatever they need to connect to (and how they need to) can be done through this tool.
