A SpeedUp Tool for the Azureus File Sharing application.

Pros: The Azureus SpeedUp Pro is an add on for the Azureus file sharing application that improves its performance by increasing download speed. It promises to search for more sources to download from and also to utilize the full bandwidth of a connection to improve overall performance.

Cons: The application designers promise a lot but deliver little. It is certainly possible that very slow connections will experience an appreciable speedup and improved performance for the Azureus application. But for faster connections, there doesn’t seem to be any difference at all. It is supposed to utilize the complete available bandwidth at all times, but in tests, no real change in download speed was seen on Azureus. So clearly it is not doing that. Whether or not it searches more peers is hard to verify: one thing is for certain and that is that as compared to other boosters, acceleration, and speedup tools it performs significantly worse. So one does see the point of installing an add on to get the same performance as before.

The other thing is of course the poor interface that gives the user no customization options. Perhaps if there were a few options there was something that could have been tweaked to improve the performance.

All in all, most users will prefer skipping this one.

Overall: 2 stars. It does not really perform what it is purported to do. Little or no speedup was seen. Not to mention the basic (poor) interface.
