Fping is a simple ping program, intended to be used instead of the
standard ping program that comes with windows. It was first made to ping faster than once every second. Options have been added since then and fping is now a very handy tool (at least I think it is).
PLATFORMS:
Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000 and ME

The original ping utility was created in as far back as 1993 for use on Unix platforms. It is used for getting information whether a remote server or a website is alive or not, how long it takes you to reach it etc. Since then the Microsoft ping tool, which works as a DOS application, has been included in each version of the Windows. However, the tool has its limitations, namely the possibility to ping servers once a second only. Fping overcomes this limitations and has other useful features, too.
Fping is a network tool that lets you ping sites and servers as frequently as you like. It runs from the command line prompt and is operated and configured via keys. You can specify the interval between pinging a particular IP address or website name, record the package route, resolve names from IP addresses, ping continuously, use either raw socket or ICMP and more.
The program is tiny - the zipped file is just under 50 KB, doesn't need to be installed and, last but not least, is absolutely free. Download this network tool today and see that for yourself.
