An add-on for LimeWire which vastly improves the download speed and time.

Pros: The LimeWire Acceleration Patch is an add-on tool for LimeWire and it improves the download performance of LimeWire. The main reason for its improvement is that it overcomes the limitations of LimeWire. It utilizes the complete bandwidth during user idle periods (when the user is not actively downloading or uploading anything from the web – say for example when the user is simply viewing a web page, reading it) and unlike LimeWire there is no upper limit at any given time as to how high the download speed can go. It maintains a constant speed and tries to keep it as high as possible and users of LimeWire will like the fact that they no longer see the frustrating speeding down to almost zero that LimeWire does occasionally. More frequent searches for peers with the required files, also adds to the peers from which the file is being downloaded and further speeds up the download. Other features are that it will automatically clear corrupted files and downloads that are completed so that the overall user experience also becomes more pleasant. The configuration is saved and will be automatically reloaded on start-up so that incomplete downloads can continue. It also allows you to specify which connection or interface to use in case there are more than one. Finally, on unreliable connections that frequently drop or disconnect, it tracks these constantly and resumes downloads much faster than LimeWire does.

Cons: The interface is simple but there is no customization available. Marginal improvement is seen on fast broadband connections. It is billed to have 200% to 400% improvement, you will rarely see that even on slow connections.

Overall: 4 Stars. Works fairly well, but mainly on slower connections which need the boosting badly. No customization possible.
