A LimeWire variant that is supposed to be better at searching and downloading MP3 and music.

Pros: LimeWire MP3 is a peer to peer file sharing application that works in much the same as the original LimeWire. It has the same interface and so user’s who are used to using LimeWire will have no trouble getting to work on this one; it uses the Gnutella framework for searching and downloading files, and also has support for Torrent files. Some additional features that make it attractive are the ability to add “ghost” ratings, which are also displayed on searches. The queue area is user configurable. Other functions are standard library management, chatting, an in-built media player, and monitoring of uploads and downloads. A limited level of customization is possible in terms of adjusting bit rates and so on.

Cons: The problem is that this is just another LimeWire variant. Although the name says MP3, there is nothing in here that makes it actually suitable for MP3 over any other type of files. The interface is practically the same as LimeWire’s so there is no additional benefit there. It does not aim to add too many acceleration on boosting functions, which in effect would have made this a more useful tool. User’s may want to skip this one and go for an effective LimeWire booster or acceleration tool.

Overall: 3 stars. It works, but there doesn’t seem to be much that it does as compared to the basic LimeWire. No reason for users to prefer this over any other LimeWire variant, including the original.
