A tool that is primarily for network administrator that enables the administrator to maintain an inventory of all software, hardware and network capabilities of all systems on a given network.
Features: The Network Inventory Advisor features a host of inventorying functions. To begin with it has a Software Inventory that lists all software that has been installed on the network. This information is provided along with the software provider’s name, the version, install dates, and a tracking of changes, if any. The Hardware Inventory lists all hardware on the network, along with model number and manufacturers, and driver information, if applicable. This includes not only systems on the network, and printers, but also the CPU types and speeds, peripherals, hard drives, memory capacity and more. This is true Windows and Linux PCs as well as Macs. The Network Inventory goes one step further and uses Network Discovery to list all networked devices as well, such as routers, and other IP powered devices (devices must support SNMP). In short, a one stop shop to get information about all installed hardware on the network.
License management tasks are simplified by performing a software licensing audit on the network, which is once again presented as a simple list in the interface (as is the Hardware and Software Inventory). PC Audits can be scheduled periodically using the Scanning Scheduler. Reports can be generated easily and multiple formats. These reports can be exported to EXCEL and SQL, and can be easily emailed to a remote location or uploaded to a Server.
Overall: An excellent inventory tool that is fairly easy to use and features a wonderful interface that is good-looking as well as intuitive, a rare combination. Not only limited to inventorying tasks it helps with license management and scheduling scans (in particular to check for updates across the network).
