A simple monitoring tool that monitors the activities taking place on a system and originating from a system and taking place over the internet. Useful for parents to monitor their children’s activities and for employer’s to monitor their workforce.
Features: A remote monitoring software that enables monitoring of system activities and internet related activity. Each and every keystroke is logged as also system calls such as file opening, saving, deleting etc. On the internet all websites visited, chat conversations, emails sent and received, files downloaded and uploaded are saved automatically. Screenshots for a pre-specified can be recorded in order to see what a given user was viewing and this is actually what makes this software most effective as a monitoring tool. It works on all versions of Windows from 98 onwards. Reports are generated periodically in TEXT and HTML format and these can be preconfigured to be sent to a given email address or server (hence the “remote” in the name). The software is virtually undetectable and secure from access from others (who may not want to be monitored): it does not appear in the add/remove programs list, on desktop, and not even as an installed folder (which is hidden, and so can be visible to advanced users), and access to the software is password protected.
Overall: This a good monitoring tool which allows for fine-grained and separated monitoring of system activities and internet activities. Although the interface is really simple and fairly efficient, there are a couple of problems. One is that the monitoring is simply too fine-grained for a user to try and make sense of everything, the internet monitoring is a little bit better from that perspective but depending on the user who is being monitoring it too can become useless pretty quickly, most users simply may not have enough time to go through all this detail. The second problem is related to the first one, in that all the events in the big right pane seem to make the interface cluttered. The solution to both would be to have more options on what exactly to monitor, and this has not been provided. The problem of course is that such settings may not be possible even with a little bit of AI.
