A set of network diagnostic tools for analyzing the quality of an internet or intranet connection and identifying potential problems.

Features: NetInfo is suite of network diagnostic and troubleshooting tools. Some of these are pretty standard and available independently such as PING, traceroute (here under the name Trace) and WHOIS. The main advantage is that it takes these and others and puts them under the same umbrella of the NetInfo suite. Each utility is available as a tab on the user interface and a user can quickly tab to the one that he / she wants and run or use that particular diagnostic features. Other utilities include: LocalInfo which displays system IP and MAC address; Connections that displays all active TCP/IP stack connections and the IP addresses they are connected to; Lookup which is a DNS lookup utility; Finger, a pretty standard finger function that lists all users logged on to a given server; Quote, to view messages from a Quote server; Scanner to lookup host names in a given range of IP addresses; DayTime and Time; Services that lists all available network services for a given host; and more.

Overall: This is a fairly good tool for basic network diagnostics and troubleshooting and combines a lot of tools into a cohesive suite. However, its best advantage is also its biggest disadvantage. And that is that it puts everything under the same interface as separate tabs. The sheer number of tabs (15) can become overwhelming and the fact that they all pry for attention makes it harder to use the software. For example, one has to scroll left right in order to get to certain tabs. It is true that having all the tabs up there allows for parallel operation and multi-tasking, but it is highly unlikely that a user or administrator will want (or need) to use all 15 tabs / utilities at the same time. Therefore, there ought to have been some customization option by which only the most relevant (or the ones that the user is interested, or uses most frequently) are only open at a given time. But other than that this software is pretty decent and a good value for money.
