A network management tool that combines network discovery, monitoring and visualization solutions into one tool.
Features: Axence nVision is a set of tools geared towards a comprehensive network management solution. This is an ideal tool for network administrators who desire a host of network related functionality at their fingertips. The lineup of solutions begins with an automated Network Discovery tool that automatically scans the local network for every kind of networked device (routers, switches, and host computers) followed by a scan of all the services that are running on each of these devices. The Networked Visualization tool enables the administrator to visualize the location of each of the discovered network elements on an interactive map. The Network Visualization tool also carries monitoring information (Response Times, Up / Down status of network elements, Down Times, etc.) that allows the administrator to quickly get an overall view of the network health. The monitoring progresses in more detail than what is readily displayable in the network visualization maps, and these include SNMP queries, Windows Management Instrumentation, and other specialized monitoring probes for returning a variety of information about network elements. The status of these networked elements can generate alerts based on predefined alert conditions.
Apart from these Axence nVision carries out constant monitoring of the mail server (logging all incoming / outgoing mail traffic), Web Servers and URLs, the traffic passing through routers and switches (through a Multi Router Traffic Grapher or MRTG application), and their SNMP returned performance information, monitoring of Windows Services and their performance, monitoring of MS SQL, Exchange Server, IIS, and more. The network discovery adds information into the Network Inventory (including device manufacturer, hardware details, installed applications etc.) which is periodically updated, if and when changes take place. Individual user activity across the network is monitored as well. All monitoring and logging information can be used to generate periodic reports that can include interactive graphs and charts about network statistics. Alerts can be as desktop messages, email, SMS or ICQ messages.
Overall: This is an excellent tool that features an easy to use and attractive interface. However, due to its prohibitively high cost this is a tool mainly for network and system administrators.
