A Weather-tracking tool that is predominantly alert-based, but has a nice interface to report current weather conditions at all times.

Pros: Frequently updated (15 minutes) this tool shows current weather conditions including temperature, wind and detailed information about the probability of incidence of precipitation (and its type – rain, snow, sleet etc.). It has a decent interface that quickly provides important information including the “feels-like” factor that accounts for wind-chill, humidity, breeze and other effects. The warnings/severe weather tab shows a map of the continental United states with all live warnings and the regions in which they are in effect. In addition to the frequent updating, one can also click on the “update” button to update at will. There is also a detailed seven-day forecast available at all times, and updated when it changes. There is a calculator tool for such tasks as converting between units including temperature, wind, pressure units and even latitude/longitude. This is a nifty utility to have even when one is not necessarily using the weather function.

Cons: The first problem is that the program won’t start without a warning that you need to buy it soon – this reminder, though perhaps necessary, is irritating. The interface is useful but is not very attractive in its choice of color, fonts – i.e. visually. The maps on the left plane (satellite, radar) are unclear on the main/home screen and their specific meaning including coloration key becomes clear only once you go to the respective satellite or radar tab. On the main screen that information is unreadable and is useful only if you out-of-habit have a good sense of what the colors mean. It is also limited in being only for the US.

Overall: 4 stars: it is a useful product but suffers from presentation issues.
