A tool that submits a given website to web directories.
Pros: Providing the website details to the SliQ Submitter causes your website to be submitted into multiple web directories (over 2000 directories according to the Publishers). Setting up a website in multiple web directories causes cross-referencing and reverse-linking back to the given website (this will in effect improve the chances of the website appearing in a Google-type web search that depends heavily on linking). There are many categories and keywords that can be used that will improve this strategy. The chances are also directly under the userís control because it is a semi-automatic tool that allows the user to review how and where the tool is submitting. Automatic category creation improves the speed of the entire process. For a price ($9.99) it is also possible to utilize featured links (example the right pane in a Google search).
The interface is well designed and gives all the necessary information, including what directories the given website has already inserted into. A counter tells of how many possible directories are there and into how many we have already submitted. Once mastered, the tool can be used effectively, efficiently and quickly to insert many websites.
Cons: This is a very specific tool and requires some knowledge of the domain for it to be useful to the user. Primarily it is designed for websites that stand to gain from the linkages and improved searches and is not for the lay person with a website as a hobby. Terms, categories, descriptions will take time for the uninitiated to learn and until then the tool cannot be used effectively.
Overall: It is useful for those who need and can use it effectively. 4 stars at least.
