Program to capture global and local weather data on an around-the-clock fashion.
Pros: View current weather graphics or saved ones. More than a dozen different kinds of information graphics are available (not just limited to weather – consider the Flu Activity graphic for example) including some Space data. The primary source is Wunderground.com but there are also graphics from NOAA, NASA etc. You can also link to a particular image on the Web and track it as it updates (for example real-time traffic information from a source that you rely on).
In addition to the ability to view it you can capture an AVI file from the images that are updating and view them later (as an animation/video). Therefore, you can come back to these at a later time and they can be viewed at leisure. There are also capabilities such as changing the color-scheme (to make it more understandable to you), using transparencies, and overlaying images which makes this a powerful tool for a weather (and/or image/graphics) enthusiast. The data that is stored is organized well for future reference.
Cons: The interface leaves a lot to be desired. It is primarily menu-based and requires (because of several types of interfaces being available) frequently having to use the navigation arrows at the top-right to be able to access everything that is available. It is a little hard to figure out how to do certain things – such as linking to an image. Because of its primarily high resolution graphics it is not recommended for users who may not have the computing capacity to handle it (updating can be slow for example).
Overall: 4 stars, because despite its limitations it is still fascinating and you will find yourself wasting time looking at all the images/videos and data that are available.
