Arm Map Explorer

This is a tool to view and manipulate maps of different areas.

Arm Map Explorer offers similar functionalities of Google maps and adds some features of its own. Rather than go through the browser to access Google maps functionality, this tool provides you the features right on the desktop. Map Explorer lets you locate and view any place on the planet as a dynamic interactive maps. These maps can be dragged around easily to get the pan effect on a continuous map sheet, much like you will use a regular map. Like Google maps, you could choose to view a map in line drawing form or satellite imagery or superimpose one on another. The additional functionalities offered include the ability to overlay a co-ordinate grid over the maps you are viewing. It is possible to read off precise coordinates of any location on the map and move to a location based on specified coordinates. The object tree can help locate and view capitals of states, large cities, world landmarks, monuments, international airports and other locations quite easily. Printing of maps also does not pose any problems.

Large part of the interface is given over for display with the controls arranged on top. Overall the interface is quite easy to use and even beginners should find it easy to get started. In combination with the satellite images, you are able to view the physical characteristics of the ground. This could, thus, be a good tool for study of physical Geography as well as economic aspects of it.

Arm Map Explorer recreates all the functionalities of Google Maps on your desktop while expanding them with new extras. You can save a map as a file or print a map on paper to use it as a regular paper map while on a trip or journey. Map Explorer is great for exploring different locations. It can, for example, help you study geography, both physical and economical. The program will display a satellite view of any location, be it a hydroelectric station, a city or any other large object. You can zoom the view in and out and pan in any direction.
