A search tool for Backpage.com. It makes the task of searching for specific things on Backpage.com easier.

Pros: Backpage.com is a classifieds website which lists classifieds for a number cities in the US and Canada. The Backpage.com Reader makes the task of searching the Backpage.com website much easier than its native search which has limited capabilities.

This tool allows you to search Backpage.com by keywords, by specific location, category, and more. Set up automatic notifications and alerts so that as and when a post matching your criteria comes online then you will be immediately notified (these can also be sent to you via email for checking them out remotely when you are not at home). Concurrent connections are used to improve search speed. Items that come up on a search can be sorted in a number of ways including by date, by location, category, price or alphabetically by title. The main advantage is that since it searches the entire website (instead of categories or sections) you end up with more results (an ad might be placed in a category different from where you are expecting it for example). Moreover, it searches multiple Backpage.com websites at the same time, so results for a specific place may be reported from more than one Backpage.com website. It has an attractive interface which shows all the required information fairly intuitively. Bottom right pane shows you the ad that you are browsing on the Search pane (in a way similar to say Outlook), which makes it really easy to browse through the list of searched ads.

Cons: There are a number of things to like about the Backpage.com Reader, however its biggest advantage is also its biggest disadvantage and that is that this is a tool only for Backpage.com. As such its use is limited to user in the US and Canada (because of the target website).

Overall: 4 stars. Works well for the intended application. Limited scope of usage.
