A search tool for Craigslist websites. It makes the task of searching for specific things on Craigslist easier.

Pros: For those of us who frequent Craigslist for everything from Apartment searches to purchasing of specific items or services locally, this is a great tool. This tool allows you to search Craigslist by keywords, by specific locations and more. Automatic notifications and alerts can also be set so that if a post matching your criteria comes online then you will be immediately notified. Alerts and notifications can also be sent to you by email so that even when you are not on your home computer you can still get this information and check it out. For the uninitiated, Craigslist is a classifieds website which lists classifieds for most cities in the US and a number of cities internationally. The Craigslist Reader makes the task of searching the Craigslist website much easier than the Craigslist website’s native searching capabilities (which are kind of limited).

Concurrent connections are used to improve search speed. Items that come up on a search can be sorted in a number of ways including by date, by location, category, price or alphabetically by title. The main advantage is that since it searches the entire website (instead of categories or sections) you end up with more results (an ad might be placed in a category different from where you are expecting it for example). Moreover, it searches multiple Craigslist websites at the same time, so results for a specific place may be reported from more than one Craigslist website. Cons: There are a number of things to like about the Craigslist Reader, however its biggest advantage is also its biggest disadvantage and that is that this is a tool only for Craigslist.
