Computer games are like Nokia (connecting people), Nike (just do it) and Coca Cola (enjoy it) simultaneously. As for me, I prefer logical games, which require smart players and a little bit of intellect. Such games are not so popular, though they are extra good, I mean that their usual aims (to develop your logic, for example) make them useful and not so harmless, in comparison with all these “dumb shooters”.
Square Off is an alternative version of Minesweeper. The main idea of the game is the same. You should guess the secret combination of squares, marking them, but to do it you should use the information about that combination, which is given in numbers. I was bored when I’ve seen the game for the first time, but then, hour after hour, it seemed to be very interesting to me. Even if you will stay unable to guess the combination, you’ll mark squares, converting them into black from white, and try to find out, what is hidden on the board. Square Off will be a good mate for you, especially if you have nothing to do. I’ll take the risk to call this program “the best time-killer of modern PC games industry”. It requires Win98 or higher.
