Who didn't have a phase, be it a short spell of a few minutes or a long period of time, possibly months, of having virtual toys or pets on their desktop? I don't think anyone who's been working on a computer for more than two months has avoided this virtual tamagochi infection. DesktopPlant is another step in this direction.
DesktopPlant is a small tool that lets you grow a pot plant on your desktop. It grows right on the desktop on top of your wallpaper, but beneath your icons. You care about the plant by setting the right temperature, watering it and giving it fertilizers in the settings window, which can be accessed if you double-click the plant. The plant, Azalea in the trial version, grows well if you care about it well enough, and dies if nobody looks after it. There's an option of purchasing an Automatic Care System which will look after you plant for you. The trial version tree will gradually die no matter how well you look after it.
There are more trees available for buying at the program's developer website. Try this tool today and grow a virtual tree on your desktop!
