From time to time we discover a yet another new and promising media player that threatens to shake off their pedestals the monster players like WinAmp and the like. New players are usually free, come with skin and various plug-ins support. Today's pick is XMPlay.
XMPlay is a free media player that supports a number of media file formats: from plain WAV, MP3 and WMA to exotic UMX and S3M. It also supports a variety of playlist formats and, of course, is fully skinnable (the skins are free and available for download from the developer's website). Yet that is just the top of the iceberg. The player features a 5-band equalizer and lets you choose and remember settings for each track separately. It can play files from within archives (ZIP etc.), scan FTP servers and HTML pages for streamline audio and play directly from the Internet, letting you save files to your hard drive as you listen to them.
The player even has support for WinAmp plugins - with them it can play a great deal more different media file formats. It also features close integration with the system - lets you drag'n'drop files to and from the player as well as open files and playlists directly from Windows Explorer. Download this free player today and see that for yourself.
