Have you ever counted how many files you have on your system. Chances are, you've got some thirty thousands or more of them. They are mostly system and program files, honestly, but a considerable proportion is your files - documents, images, saved webpages, sound files, you name it. Ever tried to keep track of those? With FileNotes Personal Edition you'll be able to do that.
FileNotes Personal Edition is a shell extension tool that adds another attribute to all files and folders - that is, FileNotes Brief, where you can type in your comments so that you don't forget what's the file is about after a while. The tool integrates into the system: a column in one of file views, another tab in file or folder properties, a new item in the context menu. There're a bunch of additional tools: the configuration tool and the monitoring tool. The latter makes sure notes are intact when you move/copy/rename files with comments.
What's more, the tool can store information on files in removable media, too. The location of the database can be changed from the default Windows\System. Version 5.1 works with Windows NT/2000/XP only. Users with Windows 95/98/Me should look at the developer's website for version 4.1.
