Big Fish games serves up a helping of word puzzle fun with their Scrabble inspired, Word Wizard Deluxe. With a massive database of words, there is sure to never be the same game twice.
The action is served up in one of 2 game modes. Blackout is by far the more challenging version of the game, which invites players to make every word from their letters (100%) possible before they can go on to the next level. This mode features 3 variable skill settings, from Squire to Wizard, based on how much vocabulary wizardry you have garnered over your lifetime.
Spellbound mode is where most players will start. You begin building words in level one with a 25% completion rate and move on with 5% increases through the levels as you advance. You also find that as levels go on, words are increasingly harder to make. Your score is also tallied as the game goes on. Soon, unless you are a Scrabble Tournament Champ, you will find yourself pulling out your hair in frustration as your next word is blocked by the stubby little words that you popped in the board in haste. It is a lot of fun.
A global stat server on the Big Fish Games Network tracks your game scores and lets you see how you stack against other Word Wizard Deluxe players from around the web.
I found Word Wizard Deluxe to be epically addictive (I have my game on pause as I write this review). I think that anyone who can use a break from a hard day at work or school can get a lot of enjoyment out of this brain game, not just “Word Wizards”. Download Word Wizard Deluxe now, and don’t forget to brush up on your English when you come up against words like “licentiousness” and “parsimony”.
