DiskBase is disk cataloging program. Enables to store names of files and folders from a disk (floppy, CD-ROM, ZIP etc.) to a database with powerful search capabilities. Names in rchives like ZIP, RAR, ARJ can be extracted and stored too. A description can be attached to any folder or file in the database. The description can be made either manually, or constructed automatically from the file contents. Unlike other disk cataloging programs that show disk contents as one long flat list of files, DiskBase offers common user interface with a tree and a list of files in the current folder displayed. There is also no need to install any database engine in order to run the program. Exists in 16-bit version for Windows 3.1x and 32-bit version for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4. Long file names are supported in the 32-bit version. Distributed as shareware.
